Zone Challenge info…Starts in September!
We will be starting our next 4 week Interactive Zone Program Monday September 11, 2017. September marks the beginning and end of many events for many people; the end of the 2017 CrossFit games, the beginning of the 2018 CrossFit training season, the summer holidays are over and school is back in session. This mean we have more time to focus on ourselves and get ready for the holiday season!
If you are SERIOUS about honing in on your nutrition and getting results, this program is for you. We have had phenomenal success with our athletes, especially those who have committed to the Zone Diet as a way of life! If you have already done the program and feel like you need a restart, and/or accountability, then hop on board!!!
Many of you have expressed interest in Zone Diet and this your opportunity to learn the secrets and unlock the world of improving your overall nutritional state. In addition to the learning about food, you will also be provided daily guidance and support.
As you all know, nutrition is key to optimal health and performance. Most importantly, you CANNOT OUT-TRAIN A BAD DIET. The Zone Diet keeps things super simple and allows you the freedom to live your life without feeling deprived of your favorite foods and is sustainable beyond the 4 week challenge. Keep in mind, this program does take work but once you get the hang of the Zone Diet, it is smooth sailing and easily sustainable. And by simple, I am referring to the concept of zone. There will be preparation and focus and commitment required.
The Zone Diet produces dramatic results, but must be followed correctly, and is not for the faint of heart. It requires 100% participation over the 4 weeks. The program can be catered to different goals, whether it is to lose weight, gain weight, maintain or just optimize performance, then we can customize it for you! But it requires your total commitment.
The program begins with a clinic where athletes are taught the basis of Zone Diet and what it entails, setting you up for success. This is a mandatory clinic and will be held on Thursday, August 31 at 7:30pm. Each athlete is given a customized folder with their custom nutritional block prescription, example meal plans, and informational components to aid in your preparation. Additionally, you will be required to log all your food into google docs on a food log. This is new from our previous challenges! I will be putting 110% effort into you and I expect the same from you!

Now, let me tell you why I think Zone Diet is the best nutritional program out there. It produces optimal health, wellness, and performance because it is precise and accurate. Similar to CrossFit, Zone is quantifiable; i.e. everything is measurable, repeatable and observable. Additionally, CrossFit recommends Zone Diet because it produces a stable blood sugar, allowing for our hormones to be in check and our bodies to function at optimal levels.
Basically, the Zone Diet allows for you to dial in your nutrition in an effort to reach optimal health and performance, done so by weighing and measuring your food intake, The Zone Diet uses a Block as a unit of measure, to simplify the process of making a balance meal. A zone meal consists of equal parts blocks of protein (30%), carbohydrates (40%) and fat (30%). The purpose is to feed and sustain lean body mass only. By eating in these ratios, we are creating stable hormone levels of insulin, glucagon and eicosanoids, thus letting us be in the “ZONE”. These hormones are what control our blood sugar, mood, belly fat, and inflammation. Since food is like a drug, it is important we time our eating properly.
Remember, everyone is different. There are no one set ways to accomplish the goals; balance is key. Accuracy and precision will allow us to determine what your body needs more or less of because we know exactly what you are consuming. So what you start week 1 with may not be what you end week 4 with. Good communication and food logs will give you the best success with the program.
